Maradona

Maradona: I hold my hands up

By TOM WELLS

DIEGO Maradona last night issued his first ever apology for his infamous Hand of God goal — and insisted: “If I could go back and change history I would.”

The 47-year-old former Argentina ace caved in during an interview with The Sun — nearly 22 years after his handballed effort cheated England out of the 1986 World Cup.

He also revealed he was planning to MOVE to Britain, has held talks about coaching a Premier League team — and took a swipe at David Beckham.

Dad-of-two Maradona, who has just finished a four-day visit to the UK, broke English hearts during the World Cup quarter-final in Mexico. The 5ft 5in genius dribbled past five England players to score his brilliant second goal in Argentina’s 2-1 victory.

Handball ... Maradona palms World Cup goal past Shilton

But it was his first, palmed into the net past helpless goalie Peter Shilton, which left him a hate figure in this country. Maradona has never before apologised for the strike — which helped Argentina go on to win the tournament.

He cheekily claimed it had been netted “a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God”.
Shilton, still fuming at 58, said recently: “He has never said sorry. I think for a player with his standing in the game, it was very unsporting.

“Instead of just saying it was the Hand of God, he could have owned up.” But yesterday Maradona finally DID say sorry to England’s success-starved fans. Smiling broadly, he said: “An English supporter came up to me this weekend, asked me for an autograph, and said, ‘You are a legend’.

“This made me very happy. Your people are so polite and kind despite the history between our countries.
“If I could apologise and go back and change history I would do. But the goal is still a goal, Argentina became world champions and I was the best player in the world. “I cannot change history.
All I can do now is move on.” Maradona flew into Britain to visit Chelsea star Claude Makelele and the London club’s Israeli boss Avram Grant.
Talks

He also watched Manchester United play Spurs at Old Trafford in their FA Cup fourth round clash, before attending Arsenal’s Premier League game with Newcastle on Tuesday. Maradona has never coached or played in this country, but revealed he had already held “informal” talks with advisors about taking a club post here.

Speaking through a translator, he said: “I’m looking for new opportunities — somewhere I can find a job, a position — and it is true I plan to spend much more time in England.
“There have been no formal talks and I haven’t come this week to remove managers from positions in the Premier League.
“I want to see as many games as I can here over the coming months. It is true I have had informal talks with various people about opportunities in England — but until there is a contract in front of me I cannot say any more.”

Maradona admitted he was stunned by England’s failure to qualify for this summer’s European Championships.
He went on: “At the moment there are some England players who are the stars of their club teams, but not for their country. It’s difficult to explain.

“Even during the World Cup I could see problems for England. It is a mental problem. “Fabio Capello needs to work on their mental state — then the tactics. But the skill level is OK. For me, John Terry should be the captain, Robinson should be in goal and Aaron Lennon must play. I like his style very much.

“Under Steve McClaren there was a problem. He wasn’t a capable manager of the national team.
“It was a big mistake to drop Paul Robinson for the Croatia game. Robinson would never have made the mistakes that Scott Carson did.

“Robinson is a very good goalkeeper who has had a few problems — but strikers would have thought twice about shooting at him from long range because doubt would have entered their minds.
“With Carson they thought, ‘Who is this player’? and took shots from everywhere.” Maradona also took a swipe at former England captain David Beckham — and love rat left-back Ashley Cole.

He added: “Beckham is a nice man and I’m sure he will reach 100 appearances for England. But he is just a good player, nothing more.

“He has a good long-range shot, but he’s not a great player — he doesn’t belong to the superior group of players.
“There are hundreds of Beckhams playing football all over the world. As for Cole, he needs to demonstrate he can forget girls and concentrate on football.
“I thought that is why you get married anyway — to stop problems like these with girls and think about your wife.
“If he has not played much for Chelsea, it is because of his form on the pitch, not his wife. “He needs to solve his problems off the pitch, but he cannot blame them for his performance on it. “His wife is not on the pitch with him — nor is his mistress.”

Maradona spent more than a decade hooked on drink and drugs. His cocaine addiction nearly cost him his life after a massive 2004 heart attack left him in a coma. At one point, Argentinians thought they had lost their national hero after rumours spread he had DIED.
But he battled back to fitness and claims he has not touched the drug for three years. Maradona said: “When I was in hospital in a coma my daughter Dalma sat by my bedside. “She whispered, ‘Daddy, please live for me. Please live for me’. I heard her words and woke up.

“It is my two daughters that saved my life. I realised I had lost so much of my time with them through drugs and I want to enjoy the time I have left with them now. “I lost a lot of my footballing talent to drugs. If I had never touched cocaine I would have been three times as good a player. .

“There would be no debate about who was the best footballer the world had ever seen — me or Pele. Everyone would say me.”
Addict

He added: “When I was at my worst, I would take coke with whisky constantly for three days, sleep for one day, then take coke again constantly for three days, and play a game on Sunday. “I wouldn’t know what was going on around me, but I was still better than all the other players.

“My older daughter Dalma spent her childhood knowing her father was a drug addict. “She is a great actress now, because she went to school every day acting like everything was OK. “You can have no real relationships with your family if you use cocaine — you need it all the time.

“I thought about killing myself several times, but then I thought about what I would leave behind. “It was my daughters’ eyes that helped me — that is why I am still here today.”

The medal for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is designed with inspiration coming from "bi", China's ancient jade piece inscribed with dragon pattern. The medals, made of gold and jade, symbolize nobility and virtue and are embodiment of traditional Chinese values of ethics and honor, sending forth strong Chinese flavor.

The medals are 70mm in diameter and 6mm in thickness. On the front side, the medal adopts standard design prescribed by the International Olympic Committee. While on the back, the medal is inlaid with jade with the Beijing Games emblem engraved in the metal centerpiece. The design inspiration of the medal hook derives from jade "huang", a ceremonial jade piece with decoration of double dragon pattern and "Pu", the reed mat pattern.

Noble and elegant, the Beijing Olympic Games medal is a blending of traditional Chinese culture and the Olympism. It gives the winners of the Games great honor and acclamation as recognition of their achievement.

I'm on because you're s**t

BENDT HIS EAR ... Emmanuel Adebayor speaks his mind on Tuesday night

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR sparked the amazing Arsenal butting row by calling Nicklas Bendtner ‘s**t’.
And SunSport can reveal the Carling Cup bust-up at Spurs was the result of a long-running feud between the strikers. A source said: “The first thing Adebayor said to Bendtner was ‘I’m only on because you are so s**t!’

"He has been on Bendtner’s case for a long time. “The pair do not get on and it finally boiled over on Tuesday night when Adebayor came on as a sub with the team 4-0 down. “Bendtner ignored him — but when Adebayor said the same thing again later on, Nicklas gave Manny the finger and it all kicked off.” The warring team-mates had to be pulled apart as Adebayor nutted Bendtner in the face.

Violent conduct

FA disciplinary chiefs are now studying TV footage of the incident following a request from referee Howard Webb. Webb admitted he did not see what happened. He spoke to both players after they had been separated by Arsenal captain William Gallas but the official insists he was not in a position to take any action.

Now he has asked FA bosses to see if there is any evidence to warrant a charge of violent conduct against either player — or both. Arsenal, who lost the semi-final 5-1, tried to take the heat off the club by releasing a statement from Adebayor.

The Togo star, 23, said: “I am sorry for the disagreement with my team-mate Nicklas and, overall, we should have been more calm.” Bendtner, 20, will now demand clear-the-air talks, with boss Arsene Wenger mediating.

Benarkah?

Suspek....sedang dicari.

Kejam....Nurin, dibunuh dan diperkosa.

Sharlinie...masih belum ditemui.

Renung-renungkanlah.……

John 3:16

I received this e-mail from my buddy.....

A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner; the people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers. He walked up to a policeman and said, "Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "you go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16 and they will let you in."

So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm.

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?" He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food," The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself: John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full.

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out. The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested.

The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible. She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face. "Do you understand John 3:16?" she asked gently. He replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it," She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought: John 3:16....don't understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe.

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Stroke

Indicators of stroke from my friend Dr. Dean Uphoff

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously..
Please read:
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food.

While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this... A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.

The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke . Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble withANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke. A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Elaun Agong, PM,Sultan, Menteri

But now aku dah dapat info yang lengkap untuk share dengan you all.
1. Privy Purse - RM360,000 (bermakna bulanan adalah RM30,000).
2. Elaun keraian - RM120,000 (bulanan sebanyak RM10,000)
3. Elaun diraja Istana Negara - RM144,000 (bulanan sebanyak RM12,000)
So, total setiap bulan seorang Agong dapat adalah sebanyak RM52,000.

Elaun untuk Permaisuri Agong ialah:-
1. Privy Purse - RM67,200 (iaitu RM5,600 sebulan).
2. Elaun keraian - RM21,600 (RM1,800 sebulan).

1. Elaun Diraja Istana Negara untuk bekas Agong - RM15,180 sebulan.
2. Elaun Diraja Istana Negara untuk bekas Permaisuri Agong - RM4,500 sebulan.

Boleh dikatakan kat Malaysia ni kebanyakan Sultan dah pun jadi Agong, just imagine berapa banyak kerajaan belanjakan untuk kesemua bekas-bekas Agong dan bekas-bekas Permaisuri Agong yang masih hidup? Pencen khas untuk balu Agong.

Ini adalah pencen untuk balu Agong. Bermakna kalau Agong tu mati semasa dia tengah jadi Agong, so balu dia akan dapat pencen ni. Contohnya pencen khas ni Siti Aishah dapat sebab Sultan Selangor mati masa tu dia tengah jadi Agong kan. Kira untung lah Siti Aishah ni sebab dapat pencen khas. Anyway, ini adalah di bawah Undang-undang Malaysia Akta 223 (Akta Pencen Khas Raja Permaisuri Agong 1979).So, ini lah yang Siti Aishah dapat.

1. Pencen seumur hidup - RM4,500 sebulan.

1. Elaun Sultan - RM52,600 sebulan.
2. Elaun keraian Sultan = RM15,480
So, setiap bulan Sultan (contoh disini ialah Sultan Kedah) ialah sebanyak RM68,080.

Untuk Sultanah pulak elaun nya adalah:-
1. Elaun Sultanah - RM12,000 sebulan
2. Elaun peribadi Sultanah - RM2,600 sebulan. Sebulan Sultanah akan dapat RM14,600.

Elaun lain lain untuk kerabat ialah:-
Raja Muda - RM13,000
Raja Puan Muda - RM5,200
Tunku Bendahara - RM4,000
Bini Tunku Bendahara - RM1,250
Tunku Temenggung - RM3,500
Isteri Tunku Temenggung - RM900
Tunku Laksamana - RM3,000
Isteri Tunku Laksamana - RM600

Perdana Menteri - RM22,826.65 sebulan
Timbalan Perdana Menteri - RM18,168.15 sebulan
Menteri-menteri Kabinet - RM14,907.20 sebulan.
Timbalan Menteri-menteri Kabinet - RM10,847.65 sebulan
Setiausaha Parlimen - RM7,187.40
Ahli Dewan Negara - RM6,508.59

so monthly income dia ialah= RM22,826.65 + (RM14,907.20 x 2) + RM4,112.79= RM56,753.84.

Gratuity:1/48 x Gaji x 12 x tempoh perkhidmatan (bulan)
